Wildlife you'll see from an airboat
Every ride is different, because the animals are wild. These are the ones guests see most.
American alligators
The star of the show. Look for them basking on banks and in sunny openings, or lying still with only their eyes and nostrils above the water. Your captain knows where they like to rest.
Turtles
Turtles sun themselves on logs and along the edges of the water, then slip in as the boat comes near.
Wading birds
Herons and egrets stalk the shallows for fish, and you'll see other birds overhead and in the sawgrass. Bring a camera with a good zoom.
Tips for spotting
- Watch the edges where grass meets open water
- Look for still shapes; gators rarely move fast unless they have to
- Ask the captain to stop; private rides can linger as long as you like
