What to expect on an Everglades airboat ride
If you've never been on an airboat, here's how the experience usually goes, from arrival to the last photo.
Arriving
Tours leave from 17696 SW 8th Street (Tamiami Trail) in Miami. Plan to arrive about 15 minutes early. The meeting spot is at a gas station on the trail, which surprises some first-timers; it's the right place.
The ride itself
An airboat skims across the top of the water, so it can run through shallow sawgrass where other boats can't go. Expect stretches of speed across open water and slow, quiet moments when the captain stops to look for wildlife.
The noise
The engine and propeller are loud. Ear protection is used on airboats for that reason, so check what's provided when you book, especially for young children.
What to wear and bring

How long it takes
