Airboating Everglades

The best time for an Everglades airboat ride

Airboats run year-round (Monday to Saturday for these tours), so the best time depends on what you want from the day.

By season

Dry season, roughly November to April: cooler, less humid, fewer mosquitoes, and wildlife tends to gather where water remains. It's the busiest time for visitors, so book ahead.

Wet season, roughly May to October: hot and humid with afternoon thunderstorms, but the sawgrass is green and the water is high. Morning rides beat the heat and the storms.

By time of day

Morning: cooler, calmer and great light for photos. Midday: bright and warm; gators often bask in the sun. Sunset: golden light and a slower, quieter mood; see sunset airboating.

Sundays

These tours don't run on Sundays, so plan your Everglades day for Monday through Saturday.
